I. First influences

Gustavo Jobim, born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, began as a kid listening to classical music and inventing imaginary music. In 1999 he discovered ideas very similar to his own in the German electronic music of the seventies, represented specially by artists such as Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream and others.

These artists, some of the pioneers of electronic music, created a new style which combined repetitive sequences, sound sculptures, free structure and improvisation. This style, the "Berlin school", was one of the precursors of genres like trance and ambient, influencing many artists in the last 35 years.

II. Round Mi

Inspired first by the "Berlin school" and later influenced by artists of the most varied genres, from rock to symphonic music, Jobim started creating and recording his own musical experiments in the beginning of 2000, while studying basic music theory and keyboard practice with maestro Paulo Cesar Neves: the beginning of a highly active carreer.

In the first days of 2003 ROUND MI, the first and still only CD album, was released by the independent label Som Interior. ROUND MI was well received by listeners of progressive rock and electronic music in Brazil and other countries, and reviewed in several on-line magazines.

III. Other works

In the same year Jobim worked with the alternative rock group SENSORIAL ESTÉREO, playing in concerts, TV and with a small collaboration on the EP 10 Mil Hertz Suíte Hi-Fi, relased in CD by Truma Records.

2004 was a year of many experimental recordings and the foundations of the second album, which will be finished by 2007.
